Training & Career Resources

Illustrative multicultural learners and a mentor preparing for their next career step

Training & Career Resources

Build useful skills. Confirm the right training with your prospective host before investing time or money.

Host approval comes first. No course listed here is automatically accepted by every employer. Ask the host to confirm the exact provider, course, format, certificate and any hands-on requirements in writing. These organizations are resources, not confirmed THQS partners.

Emergency preparedness • FEMA

FEMA Independent Study offers free courses, including incident management and preparedness. Eligible learners who pass the required exam can obtain a completion certificate. Check current registration and exam eligibility, especially for international learners. This is not an occupational license.

Healthcare and public health • CDC

CDC TRAIN is a free learning platform, with free continuing education available for many courses. Check each listing for prerequisites and certificate or credit details.

Project Firstline provides infection-control resources. Confirm the evidence offered by the particular activity. General learning does not replace a host's safety or patient-privacy instruction.

Digital safety • Cisco

Cisco Introduction to Cybersecurity is advertised as free and includes badge opportunities. Cisco is an industry provider, not a government agency. A course badge is different from a separate professional certification exam. Check current age and account requirements.

Career and credential research • CareerOneStop

CareerOneStop training tools, sponsored by the U.S. Department of Labor, help research training, certifications, licensing and assistance. The directory is free to use. Listed programs and credentials may charge fees.

Safety training • OSHA provider directory

Use the official OSHA-authorized online provider list if the host requests Outreach training. Provider prices vary; these courses are not all free. Confirm who pays before enrolling. An Outreach card does not replace role-specific training, licensing or youth work restrictions.

CPR and BLS • host-selected provider

For roles requiring CPR/BLS, review American Heart Association course options with the host. Confirm accepted format, hands-on assessment, provider, renewal and price. This resource is not advertised as free. THQS orientation does not award CPR certification.

Before you enroll

Ask the host: Which exact course is accepted? Is a hands-on assessment required? Who pays, and is training time paid where applicable? When must it be complete? Does a prior certificate qualify? What site-specific instruction is still needed?

Your training record

Keep the issuer's original completion record and verification link. An upload alone does not prove authenticity or host acceptance. Submit requested records only through an approved private process. Youth participation also requires appropriate guardian, school and host review.

THQS adult and youth orientation scripts and practice assessments are in preparation. Live portal course completion and enrollment access have not been confirmed. No course guarantees a job or immigration result.
